Music icon Alicia Keys gave fans a special treat in anticipation of her upcoming album Here with a surprise concert held in Times Square on October 9. Taking the stage on Sunday night, Alicia Keys turned one of the world’s most iconic landmarks into an experiential audio-visual wonderland.
GOOD COMPANY lent its talents to handle the spectrum of post production for the content, which was featured on 12 billboards surrounding the concert, completing the editing, animation and VFX in order to bring the dazzling visual feast to life. GOOD COMPANY worked closely with AK Worldwide Creative Director Earle Sebastian to develop the unique creative for each track.
Sequences ranged in style and tone; from a cinematic montage of aerial NYC environments for the memorable duet of “Empire State of Mind” with special guest Jay Z, to “Hallelujah,” which featured footage of war and then refugees, illuminating the more than 65-million displaced people around the world. Other highlights included “In Common,” which took the monochromatic music video for the song and reimagined it across all of the screens, as well as “28 Thousand Days,” the song named for the average number of days a person lives on this planet. The poignant visuals featured footage of people around the globe living life to the fullest.
Alicia Keys closed the evening with a message of hope, peace, and love in honor of the late John Lennon’s birthday, setting her rendition of “Imagine” to content inspired by Lennon and Yoko Ono’s famous “WAR IS OVER! (If You Want It)” peace campaign.
Along with Alicia Keys, GOOD COMPANY has been repeatedly called upon to help establish the aesthetic of fellow megastars such as Madonna, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, and Beyoncé.
