This year, Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) celebrates the season with a charming film that connects the brand with the magic of the holidays. DFC’s holiday campaign by DDB Canada Toronto shares a story of what happens to the milk children lay out for Santa on Christmas Eve.
“Milk plays an integral role in the long-standing tradition of leaving a glass out for Santa on Christmas Eve,” explains Sébastien Bergeron, assistant director, Marketing, DFC. “Our holiday campaign celebrates this cultural moment to connect the brand with the holidays in a relevant way.”
The 60-second stop-motion animated film, “A glass for Santa” by DDB Canada Toronto asks the question whether or not Santa actually drinks all the milk Christmas Eve. Set to a cover version of Stevie Wonder’s track “Everyone’s a Kid at Christmas Time,” the film is made entirely out of felt and was handcrafted by Bent Image Lab.
The online film launches on November 27, 2017 and runs heavily on YouTube and Facebook, driving users to a special DFC Christmas playlist on Spotify that includes a mix of classic holiday songs and covers. “A glass for Santa” will also run in cinemas across English Canada and will continue until the end of the year.
A festive YouTube masthead takeover is scheduled for December 16, 2017, and retail advertising in major stores across Canada remind shoppers to pick up milk for Santa near the dairy fridge and in the cookie aisle. Initiative is responsible for media planning and buying, and TracyLocke Canada coordinated the shopper marketing program.
